Huskeys has raised $27 million in Series A funding, led by Blackstone Innovations Investments, as the cybersecurity startup looks to address a growing problem created by fragmented cloud infrastructure and rapidly increasing AI-driven internet traffic. The round brings Huskeys’ total funding to $35 million following an earlier $8 million seed round. The Wall Street Journal reports that the financing values the company at more than $100 million.

The round also included Merlin Ventures, Skinos Ventures, Zscaler Ventures, Okta Ventures, Bright Pixel Capital and SV Angel, alongside cybersecurity executives and entrepreneurs with backgrounds at companies including Palo Alto Networks, Cloudflare, Check Point, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, Microsoft and Intel.

Founded in 2025 by former Israeli intelligence Unit 8200 members Itai Gafni and Roy Weisfeld, Huskeys is developing what it calls Network Edge Security Management (NESM), an orchestration layer intended to sit above the collection of security and networking products already protecting internet-facing applications.

The network edge is becoming a management problem

Modern applications rarely rely on a single security layer. Traffic can pass through content delivery networks (CDNs), web application firewalls (WAFs), cloud-native firewalls, load balancers, virtual private clouds and other services before it ever reaches an application.

Each product may work independently, but coordinating policies across them can become increasingly difficult, particularly when organizations operate across multiple cloud providers or use security products from several vendors.

Huskeys is betting that this fragmentation creates an opportunity for another layer of infrastructure.

Rather than replacing existing WAFs or CDNs, the company’s Network Edge Security Management architecture is designed to continuously assess the entire edge environment, recommend policy changes and then orchestrate those changes across different security products.

The approach resembles a control plane for edge security. Huskeys translates policies and configurations from different vendors into a common model, allowing security teams to reason about the environment as a single system rather than moving between individual dashboards.

Its platform includes network edge posture management, application-specific rule tuning and policy lifecycle automation, with traffic simulation, testing, versioning, phased deployments and rollbacks intended to reduce the risk associated with changing production security rules.

AI agents complicate the old human-versus-bot model

The timing of the fundraise reflects a broader change occurring across the web.

Traditional bot protection was largely designed around separating human visitors from automated traffic. Generative AI and autonomous agents make that distinction substantially less useful. An automated request could now represent a malicious scraper or attacker, but it could just as easily be an AI shopping agent, enterprise application or automated workflow acting legitimately on behalf of a customer.

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince has predicted that AI-driven bot traffic could exceed human-generated web traffic by 2027, illustrating how quickly this balance could shift.

For security teams, this creates a more complicated classification problem: determining not simply whether traffic is automated, but whether it is legitimate, malicious or simply behaving unpredictably.

At the same time, AI tools are lowering the cost of scanning applications, identifying vulnerabilities and automating parts of the exploitation process. That compresses the period between the disclosure or discovery of a vulnerability and the point at which attackers can begin targeting it.

Virtual patching could become more important

One of the more interesting elements of Huskeys’ platform is its focus on virtual patching.

When a vulnerability is discovered, fixing the underlying application remains the preferred long-term solution. But application patches can require development, testing and deployment, leaving a period during which exposed systems remain vulnerable.

Virtual patches attempt to close that window by deploying network-level rules that block exploitation attempts before they reach vulnerable software.

Because Huskeys operates across different edge products, its model is designed to generate or coordinate those protections across multiple vendors rather than forcing security teams to recreate equivalent policies manually.

The company has already demonstrated this approach publicly. In response to a critical React Server Components remote-code-execution vulnerability, Huskeys detailed cross-platform mitigations spanning providers including Cloudflare, AWS, Akamai and Azure, including protections for environments where vendor-native coverage was unavailable or delayed.

That capability becomes more significant if vulnerability exploitation continues moving toward machine speed. Security teams may increasingly need a temporary network-level defense that can be deployed in minutes while developers work on the permanent software fix.

Huskeys wants to manage the security tools companies already own

Importantly, Huskeys is not asking enterprises to replace their existing edge security infrastructure.

Its platform is designed to connect with products already deployed across an organization and create a unified layer above them. Huskeys says deployments can begin through read-only access, allowing the platform to map configurations and traffic before organizations enable increasingly automated policy changes.

This positioning could prove important in enterprise cybersecurity, where replacing an established WAF or restructuring production networking architecture can become a lengthy and risky project.

There is also an economic dimension to the problem. An incorrectly configured WAF can block legitimate customers just as easily as it blocks attackers.

In a case study involving Merlin Entertainments, which operates attractions including LEGOLAND, Huskeys says it identified managed WAF rules that were incorrectly blocking legitimate users arriving through marketing campaigns. After adjusting those policies, the company reported an 80% reduction in false positives across booking and checkout flows.

Huskeys says its technology is already analyzing more than one trillion web requests and thousands of network configurations each day, with customers including TikTok, LEGOLAND, Ro, Blackstone and Hugging Face.

A new security layer for an increasingly autonomous internet

The larger opportunity behind Huskeys is not simply making WAF administration easier.

The internet is moving toward an environment where machines increasingly communicate with other machines, AI agents perform actions for users, infrastructure is distributed across multiple clouds, and attackers can automate reconnaissance and exploitation.

That makes the network edge less of a collection of individual security products and increasingly a dynamic system that needs to make coordinated decisions in real time.

Huskeys is effectively betting that enterprises will need a dedicated management and intelligence layer to control that system.

The new funding gives the company significant capital to test that thesis. If agentic traffic grows as quickly as expected, the question for security teams may increasingly shift from which individual WAF or CDN they use to how effectively all of those systems can understand and respond to traffic together.
